Well, we have now received more news about Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Apparently, everything that made Halo 3 a success seems to just seemingly be put into this game. I mean, it was just the other day that we found out we can take in game videos and send them to friends over WiiConnect24. And now, here's another similarity:
Remember, forge in Halo 3? Well, Nintendo now made a level designer where you can go even more mad crazy with customization. And unlike Halo 3, you can add as much as you want to a level making it as large as you want, and your only limit, is how much storage space you have on your SD card (I'll laugh if someone decides to waste an entire 4GB card on a level! :P)!
Not only can you design and skew pretty much everything possible, but you can also add your own soundtrack to it (using every track you've unlocked so far in the game). You can give it a name and a description too.
And once you have finished designing your level you can not only send it to your friends, but also to be reviewed by Nintendo! And if they like your course, they'll feature it for download amongst every Brawl owner across the globe! Except each course that is featured is deleted once the day ends, but at least you get some fresh new terrain to work on everyday!
It looks like you may need to pick up a new SD card for this game, because it looks like its gonna be a huge one. I don't exactly know how much free space the game is gonna take up on your SD card, but I myself am gonna try and find a 4GB to be on the safe side. :P

Nintendo Rumors
To very new rumors have surfaced on the internet both coming from the latest issue of Edge magizine. One of which being a rumor about the Nintendo DS and the other about Animal Crossing for the Wii.
First, Animal Crossing for Wii. The magizine is reporting that Animal Crossing may be an MMORPG, acting as a 24-7 online community. This does make sense as everything we've heard about the game supports this so far. And the Wii does make it possible using their WiiConnect24 service so it is entirely plausible. And should the rumors be true, it will be interesting how it fares up to other MMOs as this is Nintendo's first. More details on that as they come in.
And then, the magizine made another crazy prediction, this one I am a bit less inclined to believe. But I've learned that pretty much any rumor can be true, no matter how crazy (I've learned that after Bungie actually did split from Microsoft!). So, this rumor says that using the Wii, players will be able to download GameBoy Advance games from the Wii Shop Channel. And in addition to this, all downloaded games may be transferred to blank GameBoy Advance cartridges that Nintendo will be releasing alongside that launch of the new system appearing on the Virtual Console. However, there is no word on whether multiple games could be stores on one cartridge or if other systems will be able to have their games transferred either. And obviously, if the time comes when you can transfer games from other platforms to a GameBoy Advance cartridge it couldn't be from any system higher than a 32-bit graphical appearance.
However, though the Animal Crossing rumor seems very likely to me, the Nintendo DS Virtual Console seems doubtful. Why? Well, if you were able to transfer games to blank GameBoy cartridges, then there would be the issue of people copying games multiple times to many different cartridges. The only way I could see it being possible is if the games that are copied must be directly linked to one specific Nintendo DS unit, so that it couldn't be played on anyone's elses system aside from your own. It could be possible that the MAC Address or Nintendo Wi-Fi ID could be used for this, but this would also mean the you couldn't player it on a Gameboy Advance or Gameboy Advance SP. So, to me it does seem unlikely, but a rumor is a rumor.
The Animal Crossing MMORPG idea does seem to be a very likely rumor however, because Nintendo has dropped hints of it, saying that you would always be connected online and people would be able to visit you while your Wii was off and all sorts of statements like that. So, there really is no reason for me to doubt the Animal Crossing rumor right now.
Let me know what you think about these rumors. They will make for excellent discussion on our next GamersCast episode (I'm trying to enhance the quality of episode 25 right now). So, if you have any ideas about these rumors or anything else we post, simply reply to this newsletter message, or send an e-mail to:

Apple to release iPhone/iPod Touch SDK
At long last Apple has announced that they will be releasing an SDK for the iPod and the iPhone. What's an SDK, you ask? An SDK is quite simply a software development kit which will allow anyone (who knows how) to make applications for their device (without hacking).
What's this mean for us? Well, it means there is now a very high chance that we will be seeing games for the iPod Touch and the iPhone. And of course, if this does happen, I'll be here to review them.
Apple is set to release the 1st version of the SDK sometime in February 2008.

Halo 3 Tournament Sign-Ups Open!
Click here to view the Official Halo 3 Tournament Rules & Regulations
Heh. I bet none of you realized we did tournaments at GamersCast... Well, two years ago, I did attempt at holding a Mario Kart DS Tournament, but it became so unorganized that it became a complete train wreck by the end of it. And so now, I know exactly what went wrong, fixed it, and so this tournaments is born!
Yes, Halo 3 is an amazing game, we know that, selling more copies than any other in the shortest span of time. And so, it is only fitting that a tournament is made for it. If you are interested in competing please send an e-mail, with your GamerTag in the subject line to: HaloGC@gmail.com (the GC stands for GamersCast). And when you send the e-mail, please send it from your primary e-mail address (You could use your Wii if really wanted to, but I wouldn't advise it). We will use whatever e-mail address you send the e-mail from, so keep that in mind, also don't type anything, but your GamerTag in the subject line. It doesn't matter what's in the body of the message, we won't be looking there.
After you sign-up you will receive an e-mail detailing the entire rules and regulations of the tournament, which is being hosted by our own Adam Shear. If you do not agree to the terms of the rules (which there isn't any reason to object to them unless you are planning on cheating), then you will be given the chance to back out.
After this tournament, we will have a more official like form for entering tournaments, but before I go through that kind of trouble, I wanted to see how this tournament plays out.
If you do sign-up I would subscribe to the GamersCast: Video Game Tournaments podcast, where you can get all the updates on the tournament! (However, it now reads as "GamersCast: Halo 3 Tournament!") If you have any questions, you can also send them to: HaloGC@gmail.com.
And lastly, keep in mind, that tournaments updates WILL NOT be posted here or on the sent through the newsletter. Further details will be given upon registering for the tournament.

Wii-Friendly News Feed
With GamersCast, our ideal is to get as much information out to our users, in as many places and times as possible. So, earlier this week we made iPod Touch and iPhone friendly pages. Now, it's time to fix up what's gone wrong on the Wii!
You may or may not have noticed that previously, an error message would pop-up when you tried to listen to the podcast via the flash player on the Wii. This problem has now been fixed and all audio content from GamersCast is now playable again on the Wii (the latest Wii firmware is required for the best results).
And now that bug has been fixed, here's another one we took care of! Some of you may notice that on the news page, when it's viewed on the Wii, a scroll bar appears on the right. Yes, in fact, that is our fault. The reason that is there is because the news page is a framed page. What that means is, it's a page within a page, sorta. See, the unframed version is at: http://gamerscastnews.blogspot.com and you'll notice that if you just clicked that link on your Wii, there are no scroll bars there. So, why did I put the scroll bars there? Well, that is for a number of reasons, but the biggest one is so that I would have more control over the content on the page, the BlogSpot.com version is quite restricted in a way. Having it framed off of the main site gives me some more control. Yes, nothing special has appeared on the framed page yet, but in fact I have been developing stuff and going through lots of ideas for some time now. So, once it is done, the page will be much easier to navigate. So, by all means, you could go ahead and use the unframed version if you prefer it.
What I did add however is a newer version of the news feed that is more friendly with the Wii. It's a bit more trimmed down, but all of the same content is there, with links to the version on the original page. If you want to try that out instead you can head to:
http://gamerscastnews.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default
on your Wii's browser. That page is an RSS/Atom feed and now that the Wii fully supports RSS, it can be viewed very easily. If you're looking on your computer at it, you can subscribe to the feed using an RSS client. If you see raw code when you click it, well, then you'd probably need to upgrade your internet browser. :P

Super Smash Brothers Brawl Delayed...in the US!?!
In a previous post, I mentioned that Super Smash Brothers Brawl was being delayed in Japan, and rejoiced that we here in the US actually got something first!
But now, unfortunately, I have to take back every single word of it. Not only are we not getting it first in the US, but we're getting it a month after Japan does! Yes, it is true, Super Smash Brothers Brawl is being released in the USA on February 10, 2008. And what's worse is, it's likely that it could be delayed again, for two reasons. One, on the Super Smash Brothers Website, the release date has been changed to "TBA". And, they may delay it again, until after their financial year ends, so that it will look better in their sales. But if Brawl reflects the sales of Super Smash Brothers Melee at all, they may have very little to worry about and not care how it looks in the sales, thus decide not to delay it again.
Also, this means our preview of Super Smash Brothers Brawl will also be delayed as well, but it also means more info will be released about the game before its release, so the preview will have that much more content in it!

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and The Promised Land Trailer
Well, I know as well as the rest of you do, that there are loads of Final Fantasy fanatics out there. And I know, that this is probably the most anticipated 3rd party WiiWare title announced. And Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and The Promised Land is one of the few WiiWare titles that had a trailer to go with it, or with a name that long! And so, as I am not a Final Fantasy fan or one who speaks Japanese, I don't quite know what to make of the trailer, but I know a lot of fans out there would be dying to see it, so here's the trailer for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and The Promised Land Trailer:

Wii Music Confirmed
Back in E3 2006, when the very first demos were playable for the Wii, we saw Wii Music. In fact, Nintendo opened their press conference with Shigeru Miyamoto conducting his Wii Remote to Wii Music. And upon being asked, Nintendo said they weren't sure if it was going to move onto to be a retail title or if it would just stay there for demonstration purposes. And we haven't seen the game since.
Until today that is, and now that Nintendo is bringing the game up again, we can be sure that it is moving onto be a retail release. We are also sure that it will have some sort of multiplayer in the game.
Wii Music is expected to be released sometime in 2008.

Mario Kart Wii Info!
Not much was said about Mario Kart Wii when it was announced at E3 2007. All that was said is that it would feature online play and come with a free Wii Wheel, though analysts such as ourselves realized that previous Mario Kart courses would be featured in the game, as some tracks from Mario Kart DS were shown very briefly.
Not too much more was said about Mario Kart Wii today, except from the 30 seconds we saw of it, we were able to conclude that races would feature between 12-16 players, rather than the traditional 8. We also found out that you can now do stunts in your kart and that you can now choose from a selection of motorcycles as well!

Wii Channel Updates
Nintendo has just released updates to 2 Wii Channels today!
The first update was for the Everybody Votes Channel, and though there was no noticeable changes it did add USB Keyboard Support for when you suggest questions to be submitted.
But the more exciting update was to the Internet Channel, (free if you already have the Internet Channel). In the update, along with USB Keyboard Support, Nintendo also added the ability to send links through Wii Messages, so whatever page you are viewing on your Wii, you can send the link to anyone or any device on your Nintendo Wii's Address Book.
Obviously, I am going to attempt to utilize the linking feature for newsletter subscribers. Which should allow this newsletter to be even more convenient than before, by providing direct links to things we reference. So, instead of saying something like, "Oh if your looking at this through the newsletter, hop on your comp and log on to...." now we can just link you right there!
Also, keep in mind that you must have Wii Firmware Version 3.1 to download these updates.

New Wii Firmware Upgrade
Today Nintendo has upgraded the Wii's Firmware to version 3.1 The only noticeable feature in this update is that USB keyboards are now fully supported for everything on the Wii, though certain upgrades via the Wii Shop Channel may also be required.
It may or may not also be notable that Nintendo has updated their Internet Usage Policy, but as long as you use the channels as they were designed to be used, it really shouldn't bother you in the slightest.

Wii Fit Delayed/Early
UPDATE: I was just informed by one of our newsletter subscribers (who goes by the name "MuffinMedic") that 8,800 yen translates into $75 US Dollars. Which means, Japanese consumers are having to pay an extra $25 for the inclusion of the Wii Balance Board into Wii Fit. However, there is still no word on what the official MSRP price will be in the United States.
___
It should also be noted that Reggie Fils-Aime once said previously that he could "not imagine anyone paying more than $50" for a video game, in response to being asked about next-gen prices. So, the increase in price may only be exclusive to Japan, but like I said, nothing has been confirmed in the US yet.
Well, we just posted about how the US is getting Super Smash Brothers Brawl on December 3rd, while Japan has to wait 'till January 24. Well, this post is the complete opposite. Now, Wii Fit is coming later for the US and earlier for Japan. Personally, I'm just a bit more glad we get Brawl first.
Wii Fit is currently estimated for a January 2008 release in the United States, while Japan now gets the game on December 1, 2007. But what is interesting is that the game costs a bit more than your typical Nintendo game, which is no doubt due to the inclusion of the Wii Balance Board. However, I can't say by exactly how much more expensive it is, as a US price has not been determined yet, and I don't know how to convert yen into US dollars. Those of you who do know, will be interested to know that the game costs 8,800 yen in Japan.

Brawl delayed..... in Japan/Updates
UPDATE: We recently posted about Sonic the Hedgehog being added to Super Smash Brothers Brawl, but a trailer was also released with it that you can view right here! In the trailer, we see Sonic transform in Super Sonic and that music from Sonic Adventure 2 (for Dreamcast) was used in the background (which was considered one of the only good rock soundtracks from a Sonic game). Also, be on the lookout for GamersCast's extensive preview of Super Smash Brothers Brawl, coming soon!
_____
Well, it may be sad, but Super Smash Brothers Brawl has been delayed, in Japan. Why only Japan? We have no idea! Nonetheless, in the same announcement they also showed some brand-new features of the game! The previously announced Co-Op mode will now be online, for starters. And it was also announced that Sonic the Hedgehog will be making an appearance in the game as well! He is only the 2nd 3rd party character to be confirmed for Brawl so far, though there are obviously many more out there. And to be even nicer, Nintendo was kind enough to release a trailer for the game, which you can see below (If you are viewing this via the newsletter, you will have to go to GamersCastPodCast.com/news to see it).
Anyway, if you are wondering when Super Smash Brothers Brawl was delayed to, the answer is January 24, 2008. However, the game will still be released on December 3, 2007 in the United States as planned before.

WiiWare titles to feature Online Play
In our last article, we talked about the many new games that were being developed for Nintendo's new WiiWare service launching on the Wii Shop Channel in early next year. But now, we know that these games aren't going to be like your typical Virtual Console games. These games will be featuring Wii Remote motion-controls, Mii Channel Support, and most exciting of all, Wi-Fi Play.
One-title that makes the most of these features is Dr. Mario (minus motion controls). Yes, it is a re-make of the original, but in this version you can play online and replace characters with your Miis.

Over 100+ WiiWare Titles in Development!
We have previously reported that Nintendo would begin releasing brand-new original titles in the WiiWare section of the Wii Shop Channel beginning early next year. But we now know that between Nintendo and 3rd party developers, over 100+ titles are already in development. Mr. Satoru Iwata (international president of Nintendo) had this to say:
"We've already received proposals for over 100 titles from software development companies. We've made a platform for developing software at low cost, and would like to offer a new business chance based around a battle of ideas."
Many titles have already been confirmed for the new service, but the most notable franchises on the list are Pokemon, Mario, and Final Fantasy Chronicles.

2 New Wii Channels!
Well, two very new Wii Channels have just been confirmed for the Wii. Both of which have either been hinted about in the past or brought up in passing, but they both have different names than we were told. Both of them are awesome!
First up, is the channel that we were told originally was to be known as the Check Mii Out Channel. But no, now it shall be called the Mii Contest Channel, which will consist of a basic Wi-Fi Mii Plaza and a contest mode.
And the more exciting announcement comes from what was formerly known as the "DS Download Channel". That's right, it's been confirmed as "Everybody's Nintendo Channel"! Apparently, Nintendo is really stressing the theme of everybody being involved in the Wii as this is the 2nd channel to have the word "everybody" in its title. Nonetheless, what makes this announcement even more exciting than before is, that now that the title simple states "Nintendo" instead of "DS", it could indicate that we will be getting Wii Previews through this channel as well. It could also indicate that when Nintendo makes new platforms Nintendo could distribute things through this channel about them also! DS Demos can be downloaded through "DS Download Play" on the Nintendo DS main menu, once the service launches.
So, those were some very exciting updates, but the weird thing is, Nintendo had loads of massive updates today! So, prepare for a huge blast of Nintendo news today! Oh yeah, and those two new Wii Channels will release in Japan this November. No word on where it'll come out everywhere else though....

Japan-Only games on VC
As you know, I never post about the Wii's weekly Virtual Console releases. But this week is a bit more notable. Why? Well, this week's releases confirm that Japan-Only games are being ported for the Virtual Console.
This week, we see Super Mario Brothers 2 and Sin & Punishment coming for the Virtual Console. But since, the "Americanized" version of Super Mario Brothers 2 was already released on the Virtual Console, they're calling it "Super Mario Brothers: The Lost Levels". Now, this brings about an interesting story from the 80s....
After the monstrous success of Super Mario Brothers for the NES, Nintendo decided to make a sequel to the game. It was released as Super Mario Brothers 2 (easy enough title to choose) and after it was released in Japan, Nintendo of America was about to release it here, when some smart guy had to open his mouth and say "Hey! This is waaaay to hard for those Americans to handle!" And so, they created another game that was nothing like the original and much easier, and gave it the same title. And so, this is the 1st time the Japanese version of the game has ever been released in the USA.
The other release was Sin & Punishment for the Nintendo 64, but I don't have any notable stories about that game.
What is notable though is the price of this week's releases. Rather than the traditional 500 Wii Point price tag, Nintendo jacked up Super Mario Brothers: The Lost Levels to 600 Wii Points. And they also decided to make Sin & Punishment 1,200 Wii Points.
These prices are probably only like this because it's the first time these games have been released here. And we will probably see this from any other Japanese titles we receive on the Virtual Console, but considering we finally get SMB2 at all after a 20 year wait, I'm not in the position to complain about it.
