Reason for lack of updates

Right now, I would like to sincerely apologize for the lack of updates during E3. Reason for this is, I left it computer on while working on the Microsoft highlights video, and someone thought it would be funny to reset my password on my computer. So, now I'm locked out and cannot access any of the content I had intended on releasing. I hope to have the situation resolved by tomorrow and would like to again extend a sincere apology to all those disappointed by the lack of updates from us during the exposition.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii: Developers at Nintendo have dreamed of creating a simultaneous multiplayer Super Mario Bros. game for decades. The Wii console finally makes that dream come true for everyone this holiday season. Now players can navigate the side-scrolling worlds alone as before or invite up to three others to join them at the same time on the same level at any point in the game for competitive and cooperative multiplayer fun in New Super Mario Bros. With the multiplayer mode, the newest installment of the most popular video game franchise is designed to bring yet another type of family entertainment into living rooms and engage groups of friends in fast-paced Super Mario Bros. fun.

Super Mario Galaxy 2: This upcoming adventure for the Wii console marks the first time a second 3-D Mario game has arrived in the same console generation. In the game, Mario rides his trusty dinosaur companion, Yoshi™, to new stars and the fantastic worlds found there. This 3-D platforming adventure provides longtime video game fans with a fresh round of out-of-this-world challenges in the style introduced in the critically acclaimed original. The game is planned for 2010.

Metroid: Other M: Nintendo showcased a trailer for a new installment in its acclaimed Metroid franchise for the Wii console.Metroid: Other M marks an unprecedented collaboration with world-renowned developers Team Ninja, and provides fans with high-energy, action-packed game play as it delves deeper into the back story of famed deep-space bounty hunter Samus Aran. It will initially sense the user's pulse and a number of other signals being transmitted by their bodies, and will then provide information to the users about the body's inner world.

Nintendo DS™ and Nintendo DSi™

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!: This game marks the third installment of this franchise and, more importantly, the first Nintendo DSiWare™ game to let players design levels from the ground up. Mario will need to dodge obstacles to confront his longtime nemesis Donkey Kong™, but this time the players will have full control over where to set traps, enemies and a host of power-ups in the construction zone. Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! will be available in the Nintendo DSi Shop beginning Monday, June 8, for 800 Nintendo DSi Points™.

• Integrating Photos with Facebook: For its Nintendo DSi™ system, Nintendo announced the ability for users to upload pictures taken with the system's built-in camera and interactive lenses directly to Facebook. Using Facebook Connect, the integration will be available this summer with a Nintendo DSi system update, making it even easier for people to personalize and share their photos with friends and family on Facebook.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story: Nintendo revealed Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, a new chapter to the popular role-playing franchise that places players into the belly of the beast – literally. Players will get to enjoy trademark hilarious dialogue in the fall of 2009 as they juggle two concurrent storylines. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is playable on the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi systems.

Golden Sun DS: After going dark six years ago, 2010 will see a new dawn. Golden Sun DS updates the popular portable Golden Sunrole-playing series with an impressive graphical style. This installment follows the story of the previous heroes' descendants and immerses players into the magic of its adventure by pushing the boundaries of intuitive touch-screen controls. Golden Sun DS is playable on the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi systems.

WarioWare D.I.Y.: This game, which puts the concept of user-generated content on center stage, allows players to design their own micro-games from scratch. Every element, such as the characters, the environment, the actions and even the purpose of the micro-game itself, is controlled entirely by the player. Players will then be able to share their completed micro-games with other WarioWare D.I.Y.owners. The latest game in the WarioWare™ series is playable on the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi systems.

Metroid Prime Trilogy

Back in the land of the rising sun, Nintendo released both Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes as part of their "New Play Control" series. And American gamers have grown impatient as to whether we would soon see these games here. And now, I think we may have one-upped them.

On August 24, Nintendo will be releasing the Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii. The Metroid Prime Trilogy will include all 3 Metroid Prime games on one disc for the Wii. And the first two games are being released with the New Play Control scheme for Wii and redone in 16:9 widescreen display.

The Metroid Prime Trilogy will release for the Wii on August 24 for an MSRP of $49.99, which is currently the same price as Metroid Prime 3: Corruption alone. So, if you haven't played through the Metroid Prime series before, this is a great way to start.

Modern Warfare 2 - Reveal Trailer (HD)

Even though it didn't air during the NBA Playoff game yet, as expected, Infinity Ward has already updated their website with the reveal Trailer for Modern Warfare 2, the sequel to the 2007 Game of the Year, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Alongside the trailer release, was also the opening of ModernWarfare2.com where you can see the trailer in HD. But save you the trouble, you can also watch it right here, below:

Call of Duty 7 Confirmed

Surprise! Surprise! Today it was let slip that what is currently being called Call of Duty 7, is now in development. Keeping up with the pattern that began after Call of Duty 2, this time around Call of Duty is being developed by Treyarch, rather than Infinity Ward. Infinity Ward's latest installment to Call Of Duty, Modern Warfare 2 is already set for release this November.

Based on what we've seen in the past from Call of Duty games, Call of Duty 7 will most likely release across all the consoles, unlike Infinity Ward's games which have had the tendency to exclude the Wii from release.

Call of Duty 7 is expected to release in late 2010.

Genesis Classics to XBLA

SEGA just announced that 7 classic Genesis games will be porter over to Xbox Live Arcade this summer. The list includes, Gunstar Heroes, Shinobi (arcade version), Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Altered Beast, Phantasy Star II, and Comix Zone.

Note that all of these other than Gunstar Heroes was released in the Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection disc. So, we would highly recommend purchasing that rather than these individually. Unless the newly added Xbox Live Support for these games is enough to make you double dip.

No pricing details or exact dates were revealed for any of these titles.

Modern Warfare 2 Trailer Coming

There aren't many times that companies release teaser trailers as a way to hype the official trailer. But that's exactly what Infinity Ward did to hype up the trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. During an NBA playoff game on TNT, about 17 seconds of gameplay footage was shown of Modern Warfare 2, as an attempt to hype the real trailer, which is to released on May 24. Until then, there isn't much more to report on.

Pokémon Gold and Silver Remake

The same rumor has been circulating for years, with the same Photoshopped pictures popping up here and there. But now, it surprisingly has come true! Pokémon Gold and Silver are getting a remake on the Nintendo DS.

No major details about the game have yet been released, but it can be assumed that these games, Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver will be remakes of Gold and Silver in the same way that FireRed and LeafGreen were remakes of Red and Blue (Blue was green in other territories).

Pokémon Heart Red and Soul Silver will be releasing in Japan this fall for Nintendo DS, with a US announement most likely to soon be on the way. Remember E3 is only three weeks away.

New in GamersCast

Well, many of you may have noticed that despite our New Year's Resolution, GamersCast has not been updated as much as it should have been. It's been a crazy start of the year for all of us here, since most of us are applying to colleges and whatnot, so we regetfully have not had as many opportunities to update the website and podcast feed as much as we would like to.

But the school year is almost to an end, and we promise we're gonna make it up to this summer and beyond! So, to do this, we're making a few changes. First off, we now have a Twitter account you can follow us on. Ever since 2006, we have had our Wii Newsletter running, but we realize that not everyone has a Wii. But almost everyone does have a cell phone! So now, you can follow us on Twitter @GamersCast. Twitter updates will be short quick simple and right to the point! So, check us out on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/GamersCast

Next, what usually happens with us here is, we get so overwhelmed with stuff that little gets done, so in an effort to ease the workload that has been put on everyone, we have added a new member to the GamersCast staff, everyone say hello to our newest GamersCaster, Chris Hughes!

We are also going to be working our hardest to be updating the podcast feed as much as possible! And don't worry because we've got TONS of new content coming soon, including episode 31, 32, and 33 of GamersCast! Be sure to check us out all across the web!

Broken Steel Dated

The third and final piece of downloadable content for Fallout 3 is now in place and set for a May 8th release.

This piece of downloadable content extends the level cap to 30, eliminates "the point of no return", extends the main quest of the game, adds 6 achivements (150 points), perks, weapons, and enemies to the game. So, needless to say, this is going to add a lot of extra play time to the game.

Broken Steel is dated for a May 8th release on Windows and Xbox Live for 800 Microsoft Points ($10).

Thursday, April 16, 2009

Wii Sports Resort & MotionPlus Dated

One of the only substantial announcements from last year's Nintendo E3 Press Conference was the announcement of Wii MotionPlus being bundled with Wii Sports Resort, the direct sequel to the original Wii Sports game that was bundled with your Wii console.

Well, Wii Sports Resort and MotionPlus were both dated for a US release of July 26, 2009. Wii Sports Resort will sell for the usual $50, and comes with only one MotionPlus unit. Additional MotionPlus units will sell for $20 a piece, and will also begin to be bundles with Wii Remotes as of the date of release. However, there is no word on whether or not the price of Wii Remotes will go up with the inclusion of MotionPlus.
