New in GamersCast

Well, many of you may have noticed that despite our New Year's Resolution, GamersCast has not been updated as much as it should have been. It's been a crazy start of the year for all of us here, since most of us are applying to colleges and whatnot, so we regetfully have not had as many opportunities to update the website and podcast feed as much as we would like to.

But the school year is almost to an end, and we promise we're gonna make it up to this summer and beyond! So, to do this, we're making a few changes. First off, we now have a Twitter account you can follow us on. Ever since 2006, we have had our Wii Newsletter running, but we realize that not everyone has a Wii. But almost everyone does have a cell phone! So now, you can follow us on Twitter @GamersCast. Twitter updates will be short quick simple and right to the point! So, check us out on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/GamersCast

Next, what usually happens with us here is, we get so overwhelmed with stuff that little gets done, so in an effort to ease the workload that has been put on everyone, we have added a new member to the GamersCast staff, everyone say hello to our newest GamersCaster, Chris Hughes!

We are also going to be working our hardest to be updating the podcast feed as much as possible! And don't worry because we've got TONS of new content coming soon, including episode 31, 32, and 33 of GamersCast! Be sure to check us out all across the web!

GamersCast in 3D!!

UPDATE (4/1/2009) 11:59PM - April Fools! As it turns out we actually fooled quite a large number of people. Thanks to everyone for being such a good sport. ^_^

___________________________________________

Using stereoscopy technology powered by CADIE (Cognitive Autoheuristic Distributed-Intelligence Entity), you can now view GamersCast's network of websites in three dimensions! That's right folks GamersCast has gone 3D! How is this possible you ask?

GamersCast 3D requires uses very simply already available technology as means to convert your usual web browsing experience into three dimensions. So, anyone running Widnows XP, Windows Vista, or the Windows 7 BETA is able to experience 3D GamersCast FREE of charge! However, as Google Chrome is the only current web browser that supports CADIE's stereoscopy technology, it also required that you install the latest version of Google Chrome, from here:

http://www.google.com/intl/en/landing/chrome/cadie/

The technology used to make GamersCast 3D is similar to the tech. we covered during CES and on GamersCast #32 (I swear, it'll be out this weekend!). Some displays will allow for 3D viewing without the need for any sort of optical aid, but for the time being special "3D glasses" are required to emulate the experience.

So, go ahead and prepare to see GamersCast, like never before! And here's a sneak preview of what you'll get, when you upgrade to the 3D GamersCast experience!

CLICK HERE to view 3D preview screen shot 1

CLICK HERE to view 3D preview screen shot 2

Please note, that we are currently working with Google and CADIE to deliver a 3D experience with our online YouTube videos as well, though support is not yet available at the time being, look forward to it in the near future!

Enjoy GamersCast in 3D!

New GamersCaster! Zach!

Hey everyone!
Many of you, have noticed that I have not been able to post news articles very often. Well, as you may know, I have been increasingly busy lately.

However, one person who has been helping out, a lot, on the GamersCast Brawl Custom Stage Collection has volunteered to help out with the news feed as well, so that when I'm too busy to post, he will be able to.

You may know him on the Brawl stage collection as Spades, where he has put in a lot of time recreating featured stages, but here let's give a big welcome to Zach Joyner! Zach may also be co-hosting on future episodes of GamersCast (not episode 27, as we already recorded that a few weeks ago).

Zach will begin posting articles starting next week.

GamersCast Invited to E3 2008!

UPDATE: Direct Video Link

This is probably one of the happiest moments of my life. As we all know, last year E3 became invitation only, and very few gaming outlets got the honor of going to this huge event.

And now, just today, only a few minutes ago, I got an e-mail from the ESA (they run E3), and I WAS INVITED!

That's right! GamersCast is going to E3 2008!! E3 2008 is taking place in the LA Convention Center from July 15 to July 17th.

And for the first time, I'll have all the news for you while at the showfloor! And I'll be recording the press conferences on my own camera and everything! This has to be one of the happyest moments of my life. And I want to thank each and every one of our podcast listeners and site readers for letting us get this far!
THANK YOU!

Downloadable Brawl Stages!

One of the most awesome features in Super Smash Brothers Brawl is the stage builder and Nintendo has announced that soon, one new stage will be playable everyday, with one twist, you can't download them. But fear not! For GamersCast has the answer!

Why be restricted? Well, I have just started a new featured called the Super Smash Brothers Brawl Custom Stage Collection. Here you can download a wide-assortment of Brawl stages and play them on your Wii! Wanna show of your stage to the world? You can upload it to our collection!

But what if you DO want to keep some of the stages that Nintendo features? No problem! The YouTube Page page for the collection will also be archiving gameplay of every single stage Nintendo features starting with the March 12th featured stage. And even these stages will soon be re-made and uploaded for download in the collection! The YouTube Page can be found at:
http://www.YouTube.com/BrawlStages

Unlike other Brawl stage collections, I rate all submitted stages on a scale from 1 to 5, post screenshots, strategies, descriptions, and gameplay videos of each stage!

Check it out at:

http://BrawlStages.blogspot.com

I would buy a new SD card if I were you.... *winks*

VERY IMPORTANT!!!

Hey everyone!

Listen, this a VERY important announcement, so PLEASE read through until the end.
Okay, GamersCast has been around since August 2005, and we've grown a lot since then. However, every expense the podcast and website had to endure came out of my own pocket. Now, I know what you're thinking, but keep reading because this isn't going to turn out as badly as it sounds right now.
Anyway, since I've started I've easily spent over a thousand dollars for this project, and it was definitely worth it. But considering, I'm just an unemployed high school kid (shocking, isn't it?) it's getting pretty hard to afford everything.
BUT I have devised a plan to make it through! You see, YouTube has this partner program, in which entertainers can make money off of making YouTube videos. And I actually am pretty good at making videos (placed 4th at tech. nationals in 7th grade for Film Competition), so I figured that would be the way I could fund the podcast, because let's face it: Nobody wants to click on ads!

However, before I can apply for this partner program, I need to prove I have a sufficient fan base. So, all I need you guys (and girls) to do for me (this is all I'll ever ask you guys to do), is simply to subscribe to the GamersCastFilms Channel on YouTube!

You won't receive any e-mails by doing so (unless you've setup your YouTube account that way), and it won't effect you at all. All it will do is display a small message on the YouTube homepage when I post a new video. That's it!

If we can get everyone to subscribe, not only will I be able to continue doing the podcast as normal, but I should also have some money left over, which will also be used for enhancing the podcast further.

I swear that all profits made through videos will only be spent on the podcast and making more videos. I promise that none of the money earned will be used towards personal expenses.

So, please, if you want to keep GamersCast going strong, simply click the "Subscribe" button on the following page:

http://www.YouTube.com/GamersCastFilms

Don't think it's worth subscribing to? Other than a sense of accomplishment, here's a preview of what else you'll get from subscribing:

GamersCast 26: Best of 07 Awards LIVE!

At long last our live episode of GamersCast is now available to download and is fully edited. And let me ensure you, it was very very difficult to edit a live show, but it was all worth it. It's our best of 2007 awards show!

Not only do we have our live show, but in the beginning is this week's GamersCast Gaming Update! Every bit of news in the past week of gaming!

And I'm also adding a new feature to the show! Well, it's not the show itself getting the face-lift this time, but it's the actual file. Now, we have notes enclosed into the show, so you read highlights and be linked to key sites that we are talking about while you listen! We have done something like this similar in the past, but now it works with every iPod made after the last quarter of 2005, including the iPhone and the iPod Touch! (Only the touch models will have the links) To see the notes, push the center button of the click wheel twice while listening. On the iPhone and the Touch tap the GamersCast logo once. These "notes" will be in the weekly GamersCast Gaming Update as well, and we may even put text versions of reviews inside the audio versions using this feature as well.

However, for iPhones and Touch you will need Firmware Version 1.1.3 or later in order for the feature to work properly.

Unfortunately, there will be no GamersCast Update this coming Sunday, and it's not just because of the Super Bowl (GO GIANTS!). It's for... other reasons.
Trust me, if I lost time studying for my mid-terms by putting this up, then I'm not gonna stop it just because of the Super Bowl. So, you're gonna have to take
my word on it for this one. But in the GamersCast Update after that, we will have 2 weeks worth of gaming news!

I hope you all enjoy episode 26 of GamersCast.
