E3 2008 returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center

E3 2008 is going to be held in the Los Angeles Convention Center as it always has with the exception of 2007. Sadly, aside from that, it is still on track to be a limited invitation only expo. But this is actually still a good announcement if you think about it. You see, this year E3 was spread throughout several different hotels in the city, so information was hard to get. Now, that E3 is returning to its original home, which formerly held almost 100,000 people for E3, information will be much easier to come by and easier to report on. Aside from that, everything else about the trade show is still as it was this year. Personally, I'm hoping they invite more than 5,000 people this year, considering how much space they have now.

E3 is the largest video game convention in the world, and has been the biggest since it began in 1996. As of now, E3 2008 will take place on July 15 through July 17, 2008

Tips on finding a Wii for the holidays!

Though I have found that the majority of our listeners already own a Nintendo Wii, it is still the hardest gift to get for the holidays. It's actually quite amazing that sales have been up this much even over a year after the system's release without a price cut. So, it may be a challenge, but at least now you'll be able to find out how to track down one of these systems with my guide on the most efficient way to find a Wii!

First off, forget about those supposed "Wii tracker" sites. Most of the time, they're out-dated from how fast the wiis usually fly out the door. So, what I Would do is, be at the stores at opening on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. We're at a point where nobody is actually camping out for a console anymore, so being there at opening should be fine.

Most store employees are usually guessing when you ask them when the next shipment is. I know that from personal experience, but if you have some sort of insider who knows shipment details, that always helps, and though talking to store employees doesn't hurt, don't take what they say as an absolute truth. But remember, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday are usually the key days to check.

If you live in New York, you are in luck. The Nintendo World store gets Wii shipments every single day! But since this is a prime spot for getting a Wii, try being there at about 5 minutes before opening. And keep in mind, that in all of December they have special holiday hours so be sure to check their website for the opening and closing times before making the hike out there. Their address is 5 Rockefeller Plaza, and their website is: NintendoWorld.com.

If you just want to guarantee you will have a Wii at some point and don't care too much if you get it by Christmas or not, Nintendo is selling Wii rainchecks. To find out more about these rainchecks click here.

Don't be afraid to call stores often. Some stores don't get their shipments in until mid-day! So don't be afraid to call the same stores twice. Stores that get mid-day shipments usually get them between 11AM and 2PM on average. So, if your Wii isn't there at opening, wait a few hours and check again. Mid-day shipments never happen on Sundays and very rarely on Saturdays, so as far as they go, Monday is usually the day for that to happen.

And lastly, there is that last resort way of getting a Wii. And though I wouldn't recommend it, there's always eBay. And if you do find yourself desperate enough to bid on a Wii, try bidding on a new, unopened Wii. Because this way, you know that the seller didn't tamper with it. And there's always a few other websites you can check to, but make sure that ship date would be in time for when you need it!

Follow these steps and there's a very good chance you'll be able to get that Wii just in for the holidays. Once you get your Wii, you may want to pick a few games for it as well, so you can click here to check out GamersCast's Nintendo Wii game reviews! Out of all the Wii games I've played though, here's a short list of the notable ones to pick up (downloadable games not listed):

-Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
-Wii Play (only if you need another Wii Remote)
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
- Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2
- Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
- Super Paper Mario

Those are just a few of the games I'd recommend for Wii, though the best one out of them all is easily Super Mario Galaxy. I hope this guide helped all of you out!

Nintendo sells Wii Rainchcks

Despite the fact Nintendo making yet another post on their website about how hard they are working to get more shipments out for the holidays, we all know many aren't going to be getting system that everyone wants. So, what does Nintendo do, why they are teaming up with GameStop to sell Wii Rainchecks. This way parents have something to show their kids for the holidays. With this raincheck, patient buyers will be able to pick up their consoles in early January at GameStop.

The rain checks will be sold at the price of the console, and they must be claimed at the store it was purchased from. They will be sold on December 21st and 22nd only, on a first come, first serve basis. And like I said earlier, also keep in mind Nintendo just tripled their holiday shipments. They even posted a picture on their site to prove it!

At the same time Nintendo announced the Wii Rainchecks, they also said they are considering having a Wii Microphone released, for Voice over IP gaming, stating that the Wii is clearly capable.

Nintendo DS named "Best Selling System of 2007"

Today the Nintendo DS has just been named the best selling system of 2007 according to statistics by Nintendo of America. Between January 1st and November 30th, Nintendo's handheld sold over 6 million units. In fact Nintendo's handheld is selling so well that they claim at least one Nintendo DS is purchased every 5 seconds. Yes, 2007 isn't over yet, but based on the rates of manufacturing and such they pretty much clinched. Especially with the release of those new bundles and designs for the system. I mean heck, in the time itntook you to read this another 6 systems were already sold!

Wii Shop Channel Holiday Update

Nintendo has just added a new feature to their Wii Shop Channel today for the holiday season. With this you can purchase and send things purchased in the Wii Shop Channel to anyone registered in your Nintendo Wii's Address Book. If the person you are sending the gift to already has that item, it won't send so you don't money that way.

Yes, it is a small update, but it's easier than sending Wii Point cards in the mail. Now, all we need is the "Everyone's Nintendo Channel" that we were promised.

Guitar Hero III Upgrade for Wii

Remember how I shaved a point off from the Wii version of our Guitar Hero III Review? Well, you will soon be able to add that point back! After being bombarded with complaints, Activision is working on a fix to some of the bugs in the Wii version of the game. Most noteably is the issue of mono-only sound output. This fix will not only allow stereo output, but also surround sound in Dolby Pro Logic II. Here is what Activision had to say:

"We recently became aware that some consumers have not been able to enjoy the full audio output in the Nintendo Wii version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. We are currently working with Nintendo and are planning to issue an improved audio experience in future versions of the game. We expect to have re-mastered discs available by early 2008 and we will be offering consumers replacement discs at no cost once they become available. We thank all of our customers for their support and patience."

Though the audio is being repaired some rumors are spreading about the remastered version allowing downloadable content as the quote says they are "working with Nintendo". After all, since Nintendo neither published nor developed the game at all, why would Activision need to work with them unless something was being added. Of course, this is also what they said when they were originally intending to put downloadable content into the game. Never give up hope, but don't get them up too high.

GamersCast for the Holidays!

Hey everyone! This is Matt from GamersCast with a few HUGE announcements!!

It's the holiday season again and so you can get your holiday shopping done in time with the best stuff we're going to be dishing out loads of reviews, like last year, there will be a review almost every day until the new year (there may be a time we have to double up reviews for certain reasons)! But if you think all that's happening is reviews, you are sadly mistaken.

We are also very happy to announce that our first LIVE episode of GamersCast will be streaming over the internet soon! After asking everyone what they thought about having a live show, it seemed like everyone was all for it, so it WILL be happening. We don't have an exact date yet, but we do think it will be somewhere between the 27th and 30th of December. We planted it in the midst of Winter Break so that school wouldn't be too much of an issue. But I guess you all want to know what you're tuning in for before you decide to show up, right? So, here's what's happening on GamersCast # 26!

- We start as usual replying to listener's e-mails, but this time you can send us feedback as you listen live, and get almost instant responses!!
- We hold our annual Game of the Year Awards!
- We count down our favorite games of all-time! (and you can submit your favorites too while you listen!)
- We discuss the new Wii Firmware Updates and Channels
- We discuss the new Xbox 360 Updates
- We discuss the new PS3 and PSP Firmware Updates
- We get ready for the start of 2008!
And discuss how it's looking compared to '07 in gaming
- I introduce new features to the podcast!

And if you thought that wasn't enough, well, you're wrong again!
I am now going to be starting a new feature for the podcast that's actually been in the works for a few years now....
Have any of you ever done something so amazing in a video game, that you just want to share it and brag about it to everyone?
Well, say hello to the GamersCast: Hall of Fame! It's a tribute to some of the finest moments in gaming! I'll unveil more details once we get closer to the launch of this feature.

Want more?

Well, as many of you know, the website has been a train wreck. Even after I pay people to make it, things go horribly wrong! And so now, I'm going to be making it myself again, and though the design is simpler than originally intended, the point is it will finally be up, along with some more new features at the same time! Of course, I don't want to spoil it all, so you'll just have to wait and see!

And lastly (for now), I have been running another podcast for a while now called, "The Best [Damn] Internet Videos". Why is "damn" is brackets? Well, because Apple forced me to take it out of the title! XD! But anyway, for those of you who do know about it, may have noticed months of gaps in new videos being posted. Well, for this holiday season you'll be treated to some of the most amazing videos on the internet I've seen over the course of the next few days, so be sure to stay with us for that!
And I myself, am working on a few short films which will be posted onto the podcast upon their completion.

The Best Internet Videos can be seen on the iTunes Music Store, and just like GamersCast, it is entirely free! Here's the link:

http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=169170611

And if all of that isn't overwhelming enough, there's even more on the way, but I'm not gonna reveal everything right now. That would spoil the fun! :P

Happy Holidays!
From your friends at GamersCast!

The GamersCast iMix!

A lot of people wonder what some of the tracks I play during GamersCast are, so now I'm letting you see and download a good portion of my own iTunes Library. A lot of these have been played on my podcast, and a lot will be played eventually, and some will never be played on the podcast (consider them bonus tracks if you will).

So, if you were ever wondering what my iTunes Library was like, now you know. Also, keep in mind that this is only a small portion of my iTunes Library, I couldn't upload all the music I had because iTunes stopped me from having too many, while others it just couldn't publish altogether.

Mobile users may need to be on their computers to see the embed iMix below.

The GamersCast iMix will be re-organized and updated as time goes on, and it will soon have its own page on the completed version of the website so you won't have to track down this one post whenever you want to see it.

Activision and Blizzard Merge

Game developers Activision and Blizzard recently announced that they will be merging together to form one game company. So, now the new company is being called the "Activision Blizzard". (Real original :-p) Along with this new merger new games were announced, though most were throw aways. The most noticeable announcements were Call of Duty 5 and Guitar Hero IV. Most details are currently unknown, but what we do know is that Call of Duty 5 will be making an appearance on the Nintendo Wii. Whether it is a slimmed down version to keep up with the processor, we don't know. But we will have more news on these games and more as it breaks.
