Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Teaser

Well, I don't have much to say other than the fact that we finally have something to see after waiting for so long. Here's the teaser trailer to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It will be releasing on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on 11/10/09

Confused by the trailer? I found a nice little video that breaks it down to a more understandable forms. I did catch an error or two in it, but for the most part it really helps you understand the trailer on a bit of a deeper level. Kudos to the guy who put it together!

New Zelda!

Ladies and Gentlemen! This is a red alert! This is not a drill, I repeat, not a drill. A new Zelda is coming out this year!!! It's the sequel to Phantom Hourglass and therefore the threequel(?) to Wind Waker! It's tentatively titled The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks at the moment and the main mode of transportation, as suggested by the title, is...A TRAIN. Yes, it's slightly awesome, in my opinion. Could be good or bad...but...I'm going with good, because it's Zelda. Below is a lovely trailer of the next installment in this most epic of series.

Now there were a few things in that vid that stood out for me. 1. The Train, of course. Should be much faster (and more fun) than those evil EVIL boats. 2. The knight. Looks like he's a familiar of sorts and follows your every command a la statues in Twilight Princess. Should be awesome. and finally, 3. Link kneeling before Zelda(apparently Tetra's out of hiding? Explanation please?)...when has that EVER happened?! I can't wait to see the explanation to THAT one too. Also, Link gets a new uniform when on the train...heheheh...I laugh.

Anyways, look forward to this epic epic game this year. As soon as the Japanese version comes out...don't you worry...I'll have it...with a preview waiting for you guys.

Until next time, this has been Steve on ZELDA WATCH(that's what it's called now...NO ARGUMENTS!!!)

UPDATE: The Pitt has been fixed and is now available to download on the Xbox Live Marketplace. If you downloaded the corrupted file by mistake, you should delete it and redownload the expansion. You will not be charged to redownload. Also, keep in mind that PC users are uneffected by the issues that occured.

------

Fallout 3 has been known for it's plethora of glitches and is one of the few things that hold it back from perfection. But now, Fallout has again been plagued by glitches, but this time in the form of it's downloadable content.

Today The Pitt released on the PC and the Xbox Live Marketplace, but was then removed a few hours later due to a corrupted download file. Because of this Bethesda pulled the expansion from XBLM, and is in the process of being repaired. Bethesda says they trying to get the Pitt back online as soon as possible.

The Pitt will be available soon for 800 Microsoft Points.

Gaming On iPhone Will Change With iPhone 3.0 Software

Earlier this week, Apple showed off the new iPhone 3.0 SDK and software update. Developers are getting a new updated SDK with over 1000 new APIs or tools that the developers can use. Many of them have to do with games. Some of these APIs include

In App Commerce: The ability for developers to charge for extra content on the apps themselves. Examples of this include buying levels for games or e-books for an e-book reader. These purchases are linked to your iTunes account and are limited to paid apps only ("free apps remain free").

Peer to Peer: The ability to link iPhones locally via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. This can be used for multiplayer in games as well as trading information in other non game apps.

Application specific acessories: Applications can now have accessories that connect via the dock and Bluetooth that interact with apps.

Push Notifications: The ability for an app to send you an alert even if the app is quited out. The feature which was delayed because of scaling issues is back and will be on iPhone 3.0. This is best used for instant messaging apps.

Other features such as in app emails, iPod music accessible in apps, integration of Google Maps, and so much more. Many apps were demonstrated with two weeks of work done with the SDK.

Meebo showed off an IM client with push notifications

EA showed off an early version of The Sims 3 with in app commerce to buy new items like a stereo that plays your iPod music. The game also had beautiful 3D graphics.

ESPN showed an alert client which gives you sports news via push notifications and streams video well.

Johnson Johnson showed off a diabetes app which used a blood sugar reader that connects to the dock and the iPhone app keeps track of your daily blood sugar intake. This was a very in depth app and yes a guy actually pricked his finger on the stage.

ngmoco, the creators of Rolando showed two apps that were done in only two weeks. The first was a game called Touch Pets which is a pet simulator similar to Nintendogs. Push notifications and peer to peer connectivity are used to make puppies have playdates and in app commerce lets you buy new items for the dogs.

The second game was an online FPS called LiveFire. It will feature online multiplayer via Wi-Fi or 3G and will take advantage of push notifications to call friends for help and in app commerce to buy new weapons. This was by far the most impressive app shown.

Many other features for the costumer were also announced such as copy, cut and paste, Landscape and search within all key apps, Spotlight on homepage, Youtube accounts, subscriptions and ratings within Youtube app, shake to shuffle, and MMS as well as compatibility with Bluetooth headphones which are iPhone 3G exclusive due to hardware changes.

iPhone 3.0 will launch this Summer for iPhone 3G and the first gen iPhone (minus MMS and bluetooth headphones). The update will also come to the iPod Touch for $10. Developers have the new SDK and are working on bringing new apps. More news to come.

World at War Demo

Back in November, Call of Duty: World at War released on all major consoles. Well, now out of nowhere, Treyarch has apparently decided to release a demo for the game.

The demo features the stage, "Hard Landing", which takes place part way through the single player campaign.
The demo also features online mutliplayer co-op for the game, but no system link, split screen, or other multiplayer options are available.

Cleverfield

Alright, now while it's usually our highest priority to stay on topic and deliver the latest in video game news, I want to make this 500th news feed post special, so here's too my first ever severely off-topic post!

So, many of you may not know it, but I do have some skill with a camcorder, and a while back ago I launched the GamersCast Films Channel on YouTube, which is basically where I put up a bunch of short films I'm working on. However, almost everything on there to date has been absolute crap. And I know it, which is why the videos that are up there haven't been plugged or promoted too much.

But now, I finally have created a film that I am proud to say that I made. In fact, I am entering this film into my state's technology competition (last time I entered a film, it placed 4th at the national competition). Now, the film may not have the most original plot line in the world, as fans of the movie Cloverfield will quickly be able to tell, but I took what JJ Abrhams established and made it my own project. And so, I hope you all can enjoy my latest short film, Cleverfield.

And be sure to check out the GamersCast Films YouTube channel at:

So, happy 500 posts, and I promise I won't make another severely off-topic post like this for a long time, or at least for another 500 posts. :-p
