New E3 Video Comparing PS3 and Wii!

This new E3 video, hosted on Google Video, compares the wait lines for PS3 and Wii. This raises the topic: Even if the PS3 was the same price as the Wii, would people buy it? The video, seen below shows how long the line for the PlayStation 3 and the line for the Wii are, and keep in mind that, once you're at E3 you can play everything for free. This topic will be discussed further on the next episode of GamersCast.

The video on this page has been removed and added to the GamersCast Feed, this way narrowband users will not have trouble viewing this page.

Hidden Mario Kart DS Track

We've all seen some pretty weird hacks and cheats before, but some kid managed to find an incompleted track, in Mario Kart DS. What I don't understand is why it would be in a game if it's incomplete. Well, tell us what you think about the discovery, in our commments, after seeing the video below:

5 MILLION XBOX 360s SOLD!

Microsofts original intention for their Late 2005 release of the Xbox 360 was to get a good jump on the PlayStation 3 in sales, but at this point, with the PS3 at the $600 price tag, you could buy two basic Xbox 360's for the price of one PS3, and 3 Nintendo Wii's (if the final price tag is $200) for the price of one PS3, so it seems that Microsoft should be more concerned with Nintendo rather than Sony, in my opinion.

The Best [Damn] Internet Videos is now on iTunes!

Well, because Apple doesn't like the word "damn" we had to take it outof the podcast's title, so it's now availible on the iTunes MusicStore, for free, of course! However, in order to do this we needed to change the location of the feed, so it can now be found at:

http://www.gamerscastpodcast.com/vid2.xml

And can be found on the iTunes Music Store at:

Sony Promises to continue supporting UMD movies

Although several major movie companies have given up on the UMD movie format used to watch movies on PSP, Sony promises they attempt to continue and support the format. Here's what SECA's senior vice-president of marketing, Peter Dille had to say in an interview with GameSpot:

"SCEA has been providing the Hollywood studios with data on the PSP consumer, both from a demographic and psychographic point of view, in an effort for them to better tailor their product offering to this new and emerging market. As such, we have seen studios cutting back on releasing their full content on UMD, as unlike the DVD market, the PSP consumer is targeted. We are committed to helping the studios better understand our product and our consumer and will continue to educate them as we evolve and enhance the functionality of the PSP."

Wii Secret?

Nintendo just removed a page from the official Wii Website about the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, that was said to be accidently added to the website. But we managed to get a copy of it before it was taken down, but in my opinion it really doesn't say anything that we didn't know already. Below is a picture of the page, but to see a larger version of the picture, simply click on it.

New Wii Information Released!

The Wii Wireless controller has been announced to run only on two double AA batteries, which will allow the controller to run for 30 to 60 hours before having to charge or replace the batteries. This shows that it is even more unlikely for the controller to have a charger.

The Wirless Technology installed in both the controller and the system will run at a rate of 2.4GHz, showing that there will be little delay if any between the movements of the controller and system's response. This technology is powered by BlueTooth.

The controller also has 6 KB of memory on it, but the purpose of this, is still unknown.

There also now a SYNCHRO button shown under a flap on the Wii remote which will determine which controller acts as Player 1, 2, 3, and 4. The first to push the button gets to be player 1. However, there is also another method of assiging who is which player if gamers do not care who is player 1. The system identifies controllers by a unique ID number, so this way there is no interference between game actions taken on each controller. This is similar to the Gamecube Wavebird Wireless Controller, except there is no physical wheel to set which "channel" the controller is on.

A new sensor bar has been shown to be the device that powers the motion sensitivity feature of the controller. It is 20 centimeters long and must be placed either below or above the television set to properly function, as you can see in the picture below.

The LED lights on the Wii Controller are designed to what player you are and battery power. Now, instead of the "green = good - red = bad" scheme, Nintendo shows four power levels of the battery life. When the battery is higher than 3/4 full all four LEDs will blink. If the battery is between 1/2 and 3/4 full three LEDs will blink. Anything between 1/4 and 1/2, two LEDs will blink. And for anything under 1/4 battery life, only one LED will blink.

Now, instead of going to "Options" during an in-game menu, you can turn the rumble feature of on the controller itself.

Now, the Wii controller can also act asan "eye" measuring movement along the X and Y axis.

"Whether or not this data can be interrupted into visual information remains unknown, but we're not ruling out the possibility that the pointer could sub as a camera. This is, of course, purely speculative on our part, but stranger things have certainly happened..."

FINALLY! Nintendo has offically announced that Wii will be released before the Thanksgiving Holiday. Rumors state that it will be released on Halloween, but Nintendo has scheduled a press conference in September where they will at last announce the offical price and release date of the system, possibly along with even more new information.

We'll keep you updated on the latest information as it emerges!

Conference. The clips of the other commentaries will be integrated into
future episodes. TWO VERSIONS of the Nintendo Conference are now being
added to the podcast feed. One is in audio format and the other is in
video form. Both versions are now being uploaded and will appear onto
the podcast feed momentarily.

UPDATE: The Audio Version has already been released, but it is taking a bit longer for the video version. We will try to release the video version by this Saturday night.
