Master System Appears on VC

Update: If you thought this post was originally awesome, it gets better! It was also just announced that shortly after the first Master System titles appear on the Virtual Console, Sega Mark III and Sega Game Gear titles will also begin appearing. Sega Mark III was the predecessor to the Master System in Japan. And the Sega Game Gear, was Sega's answer to the Nintendo Gameboy, making it the first handheld game download available on the Virtual Console.

Ah, remember that advanced graphics of the 8-bit era? Well, when most gamers talk about the 8-bit era, the NES usually takes center spotlight of the conversation, but believe it or not there were other successful systems in the time period. Ever hear of the Sega Master System? You know, that one that came before the Genesis?

Well, we have good news! Sega has officially announced today that Sega Master System games will soon be available to download through Nintendo's Wii Virtual Console service. It's going to kick off with Fist of the North Star for 600 Wii Points and Fantasy Zone for 500 Wii Points. The average price of game's for this console is expected to be 500 Wii Points, same as the NES downloads.

Master Drive systems will begin appearing on the Japanese Virtual Console around mid-February. It was also announced that it will appear on the American and European Virtual Consoles shortly afterwards.
